Travelling Across the Globe: Navigating the Emotional Aspect of Travel

Well, Fierce Fam… I MADE IT!

I’ve just touched down in breathtaking South Africa, and wow… what a journey it has already been.
The air is different here โ€“ it’s rich with history, culture, and the kind of warmth that reaches deep into your soul.
So far, everybody has been so welcoming and inviting which definitely helps with the familiar anxiety that overtakes my vulnerable emotions.

As with any adventure, there’s a quiet, emotional rhythm underneath all the excitement.

Traveling across the globe is never just about changing physical locations. It stirs something deeper. The lead-up to the flight, saying goodbye to familiar comforts, and embracing the unknown is a powerful emotional experience. Itโ€™s exhilarating, but it can also be heavy.

Before my flight, I was riddled with anxiety and those negative thoughts crept up on me:

“What will I do if my transfer doesn’t arrive?”
“What if the Wi-Fi at the hotel sucks and I can’t make money?”
“Am I going to be safe?”

“What is I have an anxiety attack?”

Then… landing here brought a mixture of feelings โ€” excitement, gratitude, vulnerability:

“I am so brave to have got this far!”
“I wonder what my first adventure will be!”
“I’m actually all alone here… with nobody to fall back on…”

Despite my constant mix of emotions, something that helps me to come to peace and stay grounded is this community.
Iโ€™m so proud of how far weโ€™ve come together as a community โ€“ even though it is currently so small!
This trip is part of that journey. I want to keep sharing the real moments with you all, not just the highlights. Behind the palm trees and ocean views are quiet moments of self-reflection, growth, and sometimes loneliness.
Thatโ€™s okay. Itโ€™s all part of the story.

If youโ€™re following along, know that Iโ€™ll be bringing you with me every step of the way โ€” through photos, stories, and maybe even a few emotional check-ins.
I want to keep it real โ€“ not just visually, but emotionally.

Travel is beautiful, but so are the inner shifts it causes.
Letโ€™s talk about those too.

Sending love from the southern hemisphere,

Stay Fierce,

P.S. One little thing thatโ€™s been helping me stay grounded through all the turbulenceโ€”emotional and literalโ€”is something soft, familiar, and full of love.

I brought along my crocheted piggy, my very first handmade project!
Itโ€™s been lovingly doused in my partnerโ€™s aftershave, so every time I hug it, I feel just a bit closer to home.

This is one of my go-to anxiety tips while traveling: bring something that feels safe and familiar.

It might seem small, but it has such a powerful effect in keeping me present and centered. ๐Ÿ’œ
